“눈에 보이는 음악, 귀에 들리는 무용” 모던테이블은 해석없이 즐길 수 있는 직관적인 움직임을 통해서 관객과 소통하는 무용단이다. 노래하는 무용수의 등장과 무대와 객석의 경계를 허무는 작품 구성으로 관객에게 공감각적인 경험과 신선한 감동을 선사한다. 대중적인 감성과 한국적인 소재로 해외에서 먼저 주목받은 모던테이블은 예측할 수 없는 발상과 실험적인 작품으로 국내 관객과 평단의 관심을 끌고 있다. 남성무용단이 보여주는 역동적인 움직임 속에 한국적인 선이 돋보이는 춤으로 모던테이블만의 무대를 만들어가고 있다. “Music you can see, dance you can hear” Modern Table, led by choreographer Kim Jaeduk, is a young and up-and-coming performance company that aims to communicate with audience through interdisci-plinary performances and projects. The company mainly performs contemporary dance and at the same time, stages musical, pansori, rock and hip-hop performances that transgress borders between genres. It has gathered much attention from the public and critics altogether for its unconventional ideas and experimental projects that break down the barrier between audience and stage, and between art forms. |
| 작품내용 | 현대적 사운드 매체의 활용과 힘있는 무브먼트의 연계로 전통적 품바의 선율을 신명나는 한바탕 놀음으로 풀어 재해석하였다.
암흑속에서 느껴지는 두려움을 이기기위해 무용수들은 끝없이 춤추고, 또한 노래한다. 디오니소스(축제)적인 몸부림임과 동시에, 이를 통해 두려움과 공포를 승화시키는 것이다.
동양적 오브제를 통해 현장에서 즉석으로 현장감 있는 사운드를 만들고, 전원 남성으로 이루어진 무용수들의 역동적인 곡선미가
드러나는 움직임은 작품 <다크니스 품바>가 지니는 유니크한 특징이다. 별도의 무대세트 없이 빠르게 전개되는 동작과 동시에 기타, 베이스, 드럼의 라이브 연주,
그리고 소리꾼의 판소리가 함께 어우러진다. <다크니스 품바>는 무대 위에서만 그치지 않고 공연장 전체를 작품의 장소로 하여 관객 모두가 어느 순간 행위자가 는 열린 소통의 작품이다. <Darkness Poomba> is a re-interpretation of Korea’s traditional folk song Poomba Taryeong(품바 타령) which was often sung by beggars. “Poomba” refers to homeless people begging and uttering their contempt, with anger and injustice accumulated deep in the hearts of them. Dancers dance and sing endlessly to overcome the fear felt in the darkness on stage, expressing emotions of anger, sorrow and grief with sighs and dark sounds. This sentiment also has a link to the Korean expression Han(恨) which is defined as deep resentment and sorrow. It is Dionysian(festival) wriggling, at the same time, and sublimating fear and terror through it. The fast movements of the dancers which unfold like running, harmonized with the live performance of the band and the pansori of the singer, give off intense energy together with Kim Jaeduk's harmonica and kajou performance bringing the work to a climax. Using the entire area to engage with the audience through movement and sound, the viewers, too, become part of the show. |
